Jon Rawlings is a dedicated community member, a husband, and a father raising his family in the West Valley in District 3. Three years ago, he and his wife, Lauren, chose to start their family in Tarzana, and are now raising their two young boys, Ben and Corey. The Valley has been a part of their family’s story for decades—Lauren was born and raised in Reseda, attended school in the area, and has deep roots in the community. Now, Jon and his family are building their own future here, spending weekends at local parks, visiting farmers markets, and connecting with neighbors.

Originally from Sacramento, Jon moved to Southern California over a decade ago to attend UC Irvine, where he earned his degree in psychology. Leadership has always been a part of his life—serving as class president in high school, earning the rank of Eagle Scout, and taking on leadership roles in his fraternity and other student organizations during college. After graduating, he worked full-time while attending USC at night to earn his MBA, balancing hard work and dedication to personal growth.

Jon’s career has focused on operations and process improvement, with experience in both higher education and startups. He worked in USC’s development office, managing operations and raising funds for scholarships, even helping to establish a new scholarship fund for his MBA program. After USC, he took on roles in startup environments, where he focused on making processes more efficient and eliminating unnecessary bureaucracy. No matter the role, his focus has always been on cutting through red tape and ensuring systems actually work for the people they are meant to serve.

Outside of work, Jon is an active member of the community. He was elected to the Tarzana Neighborhood Council, regularly volunteers for local cleanup efforts and has played in adult recreational leagues for softball, soccer, basketball, and flag football in the Valley. Like so many in Los Angeles, he has seen firsthand how slow government, wasteful spending, and a lack of leadership have made daily life more difficult. His approach is data-driven, pragmatic, and focused on action—getting things done rather than getting caught up in endless studies and bureaucracy.

Los Angeles needs leadership that listens and prioritizes real solutions over politics as usual. Jon is running for Los Angeles City Council to represent Council District 3 to make sure government works efficiently, delivers the basic services residents rely on, and makes the city a place where families can thrive.
